[About me]

I'm Jin Kim, an electrical engineering student specializing in robotics and embedded systems. Before UCLA, I attended eight different schools and lived in Canada, South Korea, and Japan. Being exposed to different cultures and ways of life broadened my perspective and shaped the creativity and inclusivity I bring to how I approach people and problems.

Professionally, I'm interested in building intelligent physical systems, especially in robotics and embedded hardware. My work has taken me from soft robotic sensors and AI research tools to startups and consulting. I want to keep gaining experience in both engineering and business so I can turn technical ideas into useful products.

[01]

Inflatable Magnetic Tactile Sensor

Developed an inflatable tactile sensor for soft robotics that estimates force and contact orientation from magnetic-field data. Combined robotic calibration, physics simulation, and machine learning. Publication aimed for later this year.

HypoTree: AI for Scientific Experimentation

Built a tree-based AI workspace that helps scientists break hypotheses into testable claims, plan experiments, and interpret results. Integrated research-paper retrieval and refined the prototype through feedback from researchers.

Alternative Credit Strategy

Researched new lending products for a venture debt fund, comparing underwriting risk, collateral, and repayment structures across adjacent credit strategies. Synthesized the analysis into a 10+ page recommendation for portfolio expansion.
